I recently suffered a cardiac arrest, requiring CPR and 2 defibrillator shocks. It had been caused by a heart defect that I had since birth, producing an irregular heart rate. My only experience since birth had been this irregular rhythm; this was my normality; my sense of regularity. Now, since undergoing a procedure to repair this defect, my heart has become regular. When silent and resting, I have a strangely profound sense of this lack of internal irregularity. This piece seemed to work its way out of this experience. Click to change palette.
