A two decade long project, inspired by Deleuze, to mimic systems of growth and evolution via the steady, patient accumulation of human error. In this instance, an attempt is made to manually mimic the exactitude of mechanical systems via a simple series of horizontal lines with a comb brush, and a corresponding attempt to vary the line strength at random. True randomness is never achieved, and true accuracy is never achieved, but there remains in the failed images a trace, or story, of the attempt.
