Hügelkultur

clayheaton

This interactive generative piece is a reflection of the dreams of escaping to nature that coalesced and amplified the weariness of the Covid-19 pandemic. Hügelkulture is a gardening technique, of German origin, that involves burying decaying wood and plant material underneath a raised garden bed. During the Winter of 2021, @clayheaton built a series of hügelkultur mounds and seeded them with wildflowers. Visiting the mounds, watching the flowers grow, and investigating the local pollinators were bright points during a dim period. The growth and colors from the mounds are reflected in this piece. Instructions: Press the TAB key to reset the drawing. Double-click on the image to save a copy of the current frame. Growing stems are attracted to the mouse pointer if it is suitably close.
